Course Description
Relational Frame Theory (RFT) provides a behavior-analytic account of language and symbolic behavior and serves as an important theoretical foundation for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Its clinical relevance, however, extends beyond any single therapeutic model. RFT offers clinicians a framework for examining how language functions within therapeutic interactions.

In this interview, Angela Coreil, PhD, BCBA, speaks with Matthieu Villatte, PhD, co-author of Mastering the Clinical Conversation: Language as Intervention. Their discussion explores what clinical RFT offers practicing clinicians, how RFT can inform the clinical conversation, and how the analysis of language as behavior may advance the science of clinical treatment.

Instructor Information
Angela Coreil, PhD, BCBA, is a clinical psychologist and behavior analyst with expertise in clinical behavior analysis, contextual behavioral science, and the application of behavior-analytic principles to complex clinical concerns. She serves as the ACE Coordinator for The Clinical Behavior Analyst.

Matthieu Villatte, PhD, is a clinician, researcher, and trainer specializing in Relational Frame Theory and contextual behavioral science. He is a co-author of Mastering the Clinical Conversation: Language as Intervention and has provided extensive professional training on applying RFT to clinical practice.
